Persian Dutch community celebrates news of Khamenei’s death | واکنش ایرانیان مقیم هلند به کشته شدن آیت‌الله خامنه‌ای

Amsterdam, 1 March 2026 (PDN) — Less than 24 hours after the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a large crowd from the Persian-Dutch community gathered in Dam Square to celebrate the death of the 86-year-old dictator in their homeland.
Over 1,000 people participated in the gathering. Numerous attendees carried the Persian flag bearing the ancient Lion and Sun symbol, which the Islamic Republic removed after the 1979 Revolution.

Many people in the crowd held photos of Reza Pahlavi, the former crown prince of Persia/Iran, who is now considered the most prominent opposition leader. After the gathering in Dam Square, the crowd marched toward the U.S. Consulate General in Amsterdam. At the same time in Tehran, the United States and Israel intensified their strikes on military bases, and state television broadcasts were halted following the attacks.

Iran’s regime has launched several strikes against military and civilian targets in oil-rich Arab states across the region. The United States has sunk several Iranian battleships, while Kuwait mistakenly shot down U.S. fighter jets. This sharp escalation appears to signal the beginning of a broader conflict, potentially marking the onset of a “Fourth Persian Gulf War” extending beyond Iran’s borders.
