In the 1960s, for nearly a year, the renowned Persian singer Homeyra (Parvaneh Amir-Afshari) refrained from having her photo published in the press. However, a popular monthly magazine in Tehran eventually persuaded her to agree to a photoshoot.
Homeyra began her career in 1965 by performing the classical song Sabram Ata Kon, composed by the iconic musician Ali Tajvidi. However, from the early 1970s, she shifted her focus to performing commercial songs. Among her most popular pop songs are Shab, Darya Kenar, Vaghti ke Eshgh Miyad and Bahar Bahar.
Following the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Persia (Iran), she fled to Costa Rica before eventually settling in Los Angeles.
