سال ۲۰۱۵ دویستمین سالگرد رخ دادن نبرد «واترلو» است. به همین بهانه در اروپا برنامه‌های گوناگونی سازماندهی شده است. واترلو آخرین نبرد ناپلئون بناپارت در اروپا بود که در سال ۱۸۱۵ در دشتی به همین نام در بلژیک کنونی رخ داد. این نبرد در برابر ائتلاف هفتم، به شکست ناپلئون و تبعید او به جزیره سنت هلنا انجامید. ا
نمایشگاه «اسکندر، ناپلئون و ژوزفین» در هلند هم به همین بهانه سازماندهی شده است. حدود دویست اثر هنری، مجسمه، ادوات نظامی، لباس، جواهرات و … در این نمایشگاه به دوستداران تاریخ و هنر ارائه شده است و سه شخصیت محوری در نبرد واترلو (ناپلئون، تزار اسکندر و ژوزفین) را دربرمی‌گیرند. نمایشگاه از مارس تا نوامبر ۲۰۱۵ در موزه هرمیتاژ آمستردام (بخش هلندی موزه هرمیتاژ در سنت پترزبوگ) برپاست. گالری عکس «شبکه ایرانیان هلند» از این نمایشگاه را ببینید:ا

In 2015, as the Battle of Waterloo is commemorated throughout Europe, the Hermitage Amsterdam will turn the clock back to the decisive years that preceded Waterloo, the days of Napoleon Bonaparte and two exceptional and very different contemporaries: Tsar Alexander I, his friend and enemy, and Joséphine, the love of his life.
More than two hundred magnificent paintings, sculptures, personal possessions, gowns and uniforms, objets d’art and impressive weapons will tell the story of two mighty rulers and a woman with great personality. The central themes are friendship, war and politics, as well as Joséphine’s great art collection, which included Dutch and Italian masters such as Potter, Van der Werff, Luini and Canova. The two men come even physically close, in Napoleon’s death mask and in a medallion with a lock of Alexander’s hair. A significant part of Joséphine’s collection eventually came into the possession of the Hermitage, and many of the highlights will be on display in the Netherlands for the first time.

Alexander, Napoleon & Joséphine, een verhaal van vriendschap, oorlog en kunst uit de Hermitage
In het jaar dat de slag bij Waterloo van 1815 in heel Europa wordt herdacht zet de Hermitage Amsterdam de klok terug naar de beslissende jaren vóór Waterloo, de tijd van Napoleon Bonaparte en twee heel bijzondere en verschillende tijdgenoten: zijn grote liefde Joséphine en tsaar Alexander I, zijn vriend en vijand.
Aan de hand van ruim tweehonderd prachtige schilderijen, sculpturen, persoonlijke bezittingen, japonnen en uniformen, toegepaste kunstvoorwerpen en indrukwekkende wapens wordt het verhaal verteld van twee grote heersers en van female power.
Vriendschap, oorlog, liefde en politiek staan centraal, maar ook Joséphines grootse kunstcollectie, met onder andere Hollandse en Italiaanse meesters als Potter, Van der Werff, Luini en Canova. De twee mannen komen fysiek heel dichtbij, door Napoleons dodenmasker en een medaillon met een haarlok van Alexander. Joséphines collectie zou uiteindelijk grotendeels in de Hermitage terechtkomen en een groot aantal hoogtepunten daaruit wordt voor het eerst in Nederland tentoongesteld.
