Return to the Origins is about Reza Vali’s experience of returning to the music of his own
culture, after studying and teaching European/Western music for nearly fifty years.
Starting with a criticism of Eurocentrism in music, especially in music education, Vali proceeds with a comprehensive analysis of the Persian music system, the Dastgâh-Maghâm.
