This year’s Movies that Matter Festival takes place from 20-28 March in The Hague. Two days longer than previous editions.
The festival features many extras, specials, exhibitions and music performances including various films related to Iran.
The festival will be closed by two screenings of The President, directedby Iranian director Mohsen Makmalbaf, on Saturday 28 March in Theater aan het Spui. This dark satire about power, expropriation and vengeance tells the story of a dictator who following a coup comes face to face with the people he has oppressed for years. Upon fleeing the presidential palace together with his grandson, the old man faces the seriousness of his acts and the excesses of his regime. Meanwhile, his innocent grandson starts asking bothersome questions.

2015 Edition of “Movies that Matter” also presents a theater play from Belgium which is inspired by Jafar Panahi's documentary “This is Not a Film“. The play “CLOSED CURTAINS” is directed by Mokhallad Rasem and will be performed only in Dutch on Friday, 20th March 2015. (More Info…)

فیلم‌های ایرانی در جشنواره فیلم‌های حقوق بشری در لاهه
جشنواره امسال فیلم‌های حقوق بشری در لاهه (Movies that Matter) از ۲۰ مارس به مدت هشت روز در جریان خواهد بود. مانند سال‌های گذشته در این جشنواره توجه ویژه‌ای نیز به ساخته‌های فیلمسازان ایرانی با موضوع حقوق بشر صورت گرفته است.
به گزارش «شبکه ایرانیان هلند» امسال فیلم‌های «تاکسی» ساخته جعفر پناهی، «ایرانیان» ساخته مهران تمدن، «آنهایی که گفتند نه» ساخته نیما سروستانی و «رییس جمهور» ساخته محسن مخملباف نمایش داده می‌شود.
همچنین یک گروه تئاتر از بلژیک نمایشی را اجرا خواهند کرد که با الهام از فیلم مستند «این فیلم نیست» ساخته جعفر پناهی نوشته شده است. این تئاتر که «پرده‌های کشیده» نام دارد، تنها به زبان هلندی روی صحنه خواهد رفت. آثار فیلمسازان ایرانی (به جز «رییس جمهور») همگی به زبان پارسی و با زیرنویس انگلیسی نمایش داده خواهند شد.
